Importer Leejun Ivie had looked forward to celebrating her 41st birthday with her family in Beijing this year. Instead, she said, she was kidnapped by Chinese authorities and interrogated for 10 hours about her Falun Gong activities in the United States.
The “Petals of Peace” is a global event initiated last October in Australia. Its purpose is to encourage children all over the world to be closely connected and to promote tolerance and mutual understandings, as well as to improve creativity.
From April 14 to 18, the Annual General Meeting of Amnesty International US section was held at the New York Marriott in Brooklyn. Falun Gong practitioners joined the “New Idea Display” with the theme of “Petals of Peace.”
Who are “other people?” Where are they from? What relationship do they have with me?
“Other people” are many. They come from near and far, no matter if it was in the past or the present. They are around me at every moment, every minute, every second, and they influence me.
We expect replies after sending emails to friends.
We expect praises from the boss after finishing the work.
We expect appreciation from family after serving each meal.
On April 25, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners in Melbourne held a series
of activities to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Zhongnanhai appeal.
The events were held at the Royal Exhibition Building, South Bank, Yarra River
Bridge and in front of the Chinese Consulate.
Mr. Li Yinglin, a Falun Gong practitioner has recently been verified as having died from internal injuries sustained from the beating. All of his toenails were broken off, a square piece of flesh was cut out of his left heel, his genitals and other areas of his body were covered in blue and purple patches.
Recently, China once more used a “no-action” motion to block passage of a resolution introduced by the Unites States at the 60th session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, criticizing China’s human rights practices.
Five years ago on April 25, 1999, approximately 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners went to appeal to the State Council’s Appeals Office on Fuyou Street in Beijing. The world stood still as the Falun Gong practitioners appealed in a peaceful, rational, trusting, tolerant and highly self-disciplined manner.
