Ms Zhang is the sister of Youlai Zhang, who will travel today from Wollongong to Canberra to practise the art of Falun Gong in front of Parliament House. The morning meditation is designed to publicise the plight of practitioners in China, who have suffered harsh labour camp conditions since the Chinese government banned the practice in 1999.
As the United Nation’s Commission on Human Rights convenes in Geneva this week, the Falun Dafa Information Center joins the growing chorus of voices urging the Commission to censure China for the horrific and widespread abuses of human rights against Falun Gong practitioners throughout China.
To this end, on March 8th the U.S. Congress passed resolution H. Res. 530 urging the international community to rebuke the People’s Republic of China for a litany of human rights abuses. Additionally, last week 40 non-governmental organizations adopted a resolution of their own, urging a resolution to be introduced in Geneva “to call upon the People’s Republic of China to end its human rights violations and meet internationally recognized standards for human rights.”
According to an incomplete investigation, more than 40 practitioners have been abducted and 3 practitioners have been tortured to death in just a few days.
Mankind has the responsibility to preserve the world’s natural resources. However, the rising population and concurrent rural development can be detrimental to our natural environment. Here I would like to discuss my view on the consumption and development of the forest resources.
