He saw a book unjustly banned.
He had to tell the world:
This book had given him back his health,
his inner peace, and great morals.
She watched her friends get beaten and chained.
She chose to take a stand.
For kindhearted folk have a right to believe
in a life beyond death, in a promised land.
When meditation in groups became a crime,
We looked to the sky, our hearts concerned.
If truth, kindness, temperance—the values we share—are attacked, where should good people turn?
The day we stepped forth to defend our beliefs ,is a story I’ll patiently tell.
My genuine hope from the depths of my heart
is that good people see the truth well.
