On April 9, 2007, Mr. Kevin M. Jackson, Mayor and the Governing Body of
the City of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Proclaimed April 11, 2007 as Falun Dafa
Day in appreciation of the New Mexico practitioner's commitment to community

Office of the Mayor

City of Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Proclamation

Falun Dafa Day

April 11,2007

Whereas, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, was introduced
to the public in China by founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, in 1992 and is currently
practiced in over 80 countries by over 100 million practitioners; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa is a traditional Chinese self-cultivation
practice, based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance
that attracts millions of people of all ages and backgrounds; and

Whereas, volunteers have worked diligently throughout New
Mexico to educate the community and residents of the many benefits to be obtained
through Falun Dafa, and the practice has benefited our communities and society
as a whole in keeping with New Mexico's diverse culture and optimum quality
of life, and

Whereas, since July 1999, the unelected leadership of the
Chinese Communist Party implemented a brutal persecution against Falun Dafa,
with more than 3,000 practitioners persecuted to death, hundreds of thousands
arrested and tens of thousands forced into slave labor camps; and

Whereas, the U. S. Congress has begun investigating the
serious allegations that Chinese concentration camps are harvesting organs of
Falun Gong practitioners while they are still alive; and the largest concentration
camp in China is purported to have over 120,00 people, and,

Whereas, the Chinese Communist Party is accused of selling
the organs of camp prisoners for profit and/or cremating the remains of Falun
Gong practitioners to destroy evidence and making an attempt to hide this atrocity
from the world; and

Whereas, the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of
Falun Gong in China has been formed in North America, Europe and Asia to investigate
the activity of these underground concentration camps; and

Whereas, Former Canadian Secretary of State, David Kilgour,
and renowned human rights lawyer, David Matas, have conducted an independent
investigation which strongly supports these allegations; and

Whereas, Falun Gong practitioners from New Mexico visited
the City of Rio Rancho on April 6, 2007 to inform local citizens of the benevolent
and peaceful nature of Falun Gong and the ongoing atrocities committed against
it by the Chinese Communist Regime, and

Whereas, the great compassion and tolerance demonstrated
by Falun Dafa practitioners in upholding the principles of their practice under
the most severe environments has touched the hearts of people throughout our
city, state, nation and world, and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kevin M. Jackson, Mayor and the Governing
Body of the City of Rio Rancho do hereby proclaim April 11, 2007 “FALUN DAFA
DAY” in appreciation of the New Mexico practitioner's commitment to community
service and raising awareness of these atrocities that cannot be ignored.
