U.S. Falun Gong practitioner travels to Australia to urge APEC nations to help release her father, illegally detained in a labour camp for 8 years.
“We’re not protesting against APEC, we’re not protesting against the Howard Government, we just want people to realise thousands of Falun Gong people are held in camps in China and they’re killed for organ transplants,” said Falun Gong spokeswoman Kay Rubacek.
During the time of APEC meetings in Sydney, Falun Gong practitioners from around Australia request that our Prime Minister, John Howard, openly urge the Chinese Communist Party delegates at APEC ’07 that Australians want the Chinese Communist regime to immediately and unconditionally end the persecution of Falun Gong and release all Falun Gong prisoners of conscience.
The 65th Annual International Council of Psychologists Conference was held at the Westgate Hotel in San Diego from August 11 to 14, 2007. During the month of June the Falun Dafa Information Center has recorded the deaths of 20 Falun Gong adherents as a result of the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of the practice. Some of the deaths took place as early as January 2007 but only became known in June due to the difficulties and dangers involved in obtaining such sensitive information from inside China.
Upon the Finance Ministers’ arrival, a small group of practitioners greeted them with large banners highlighting the message of human rights abuses in China.
Director Elefteria Kalogritsa has produced a documentary on the journey of Jane Dai and her daughter Fadu and how Ms. Dai’s husband was brutally killed for his belief in Falun Gong.
A Global Human Rights Torch Relay (HRTR), inspired by the Olympic torch, is to be lit in Greece on Thursday August 9 and will travel around the world to put human rights on the agenda in the lead-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
