(Minghui.org) Ms. Rajna Jolly is a hairdresser and make-up artist, and owns a salon in an affluent section of Melbourne. She is friendly and enthusiastic, has a vivacious and upbeat personality, and has a happy family. Her happiness radiates throughout her salon, and her employees make customers feel comfortable and relaxed.
“Falun Dafa Has Everything I Was Looking For”
“I was always spiritual and involved in spiritual activities, however, I knew that I could not give myself to any of these groups because I found that the people who practiced them did not have the truth I was seeking,” Ms. Jolly said.
“A friend told me about Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) in 2009, and I knew straight away that everything I was looking for was in this practice.”
She says Falun Dafa and the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance resonated with her, “I just had to practice it no matter what, and at whatever cost, only to find out that Falun Dafa was free.”
She recalled how she was introduced to Falun Dafa through Master Li’s lectures. “A friend of mine first shared different lectures. I thought that they were fascinating and then he lent me the book Zhuan Falun, and said that if I wanted to practice I should read the book.”
Zhuan Falun Changes My Life
She followed her friend’s suggestion and read the book from beginning to end. “After I first read Zhuan Falun my life changed. I was always drawn to the spiritual side of life but then I diverted back into drugs and alcohol because I was a party girl. Once I started to practice Falun Dafa I realised I had to change if I wanted to cultivate with my whole heart. I really wanted to cultivate, so I gave up alcohol and drugs straight away.
“But cigarettes for me were like an old friend, a habit that I had, it fills that part of the day. Coffee and cigarettes are the norm. After reading Zhuan Falun, I knew what cigarettes were. There is no benefit at all apart from taking a break. It took me 18 months to completely give up cigarettes.”
Inspired by Reading Zhuan Falun
“When I read the book I felt that the author, Master Li Hongzhi, was speaking to me and I felt that I was getting a connection with him straight away,” she said.
She said she did not have this feeling when she read other books. “It’s a bond that you create straight away from the moment that you open the book and only if you open it and read it front to back you will have that experience.”
She found the video of Master Li’s lectures in Guangzhou at en.minghui.org. “Watching the videos deepened my understanding about what cultivation was all about. I think that when I first read Zhuan Falun, it’s like you don’t know what to expect. I knew what I was reading was the truth, however, there is something that I haven’t experienced yet. When I heard it on the video I could relate to the explanations and deepen my understanding. Of course, the more you read the book, the deeper your understandings are and you enlighten as you go along. It’s so amazing.”
Following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance
She recalled, “When I started practicing, Master cleaned up my body and started purifying my thoughts. I wanted to be a genuine practitioner and follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance in daily life and work.
“I wanted to put (those principles) into my business and I have owned my business now since 2014. I have tried my best and I think it is always a work in progress to use the principles of Falun Dafa. It was hard to start because business people think that you are stupid unless you are making money and trying to screw each other over for more money at whatever cost.”
Along with studying the Fa and improvement in body and mind, Ms. Jolly also became more confident.
“I just wanted to bring that into my business practice so that I could deal with my staff and my clients. I want to always make sure that if I have a complaint from someone in my business I look to Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance to see what’s wrong. What have I not learned from this client who’s so unhappy? Where has my bar not been set high enough to be able to serve this person? What do I need to look within about myself and remove those attachments?
“That’s been the most stable thing because at times when things have been really low and hard it has been those principles that have pulled me up and helped me to see the situation clearly.”
When customers walk into her salon in a busy city, they are immediately enveloped in the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The employees listen to the customers’ needs, and their smiles and kindness not only convey warmth, but also tell customers that they are always there for them.
Ms. Jolly takes a lead to set an example in training employees to treat every customer sincerely.
“This is to get wisdom from Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. I can make an unhappy customer become a happy one. This is also to teach my staff: That is how you do it, you don’t blame the other person. Every person has the capacity to help you to raise your understanding into becoming fairer person at what you do, whatever craft or business you do.
“Falun Dafa teaches me how to become a better person, how to be able to serve people better, especially in our industry, and I need my staff to really truly understand how to serve people with respect and courtesy. They follow my guidelines as I follow Master’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
She works six days a week and 12-15 hours a day. She also has a family to take care of. She studies the Fa every day and deals with difficulties and issues as a practitioner. She said she tries her best to follow the principles to deal with issues in her family.
She is optimistic and her family and friends support her work and participation in Falun Dafa events.
Concluding Remarks
Located in an affluent area of Melbourne, her high-end hair salon is often visited by people from all walks of life, including celebrities in the entertainment industry. Ms. Jolly often recommends Zhuan Falun to the people she meets.
“This book is especially significant for me because it gives me hope. I wish that every human being has the opportunity to read it. Their lives would definitely change and their minds expand because they would see thing differently. They would understand the universe and they would understand things that are intangible, things that they would not normally come across in this world. It would open up their minds.”
