(Minghui.org) The 15th National Night Out (NNO) Against Crime celebration brought thousands of people to Riverside Park in Port Jervis, New York during the evening of August 1, 2023. The event was held to strengthen unity and policing partnerships in the community.
Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden personally invited local Falun Dafa practitioners to the celebration to foster community spirit and cooperation.
Resident: “It’s great! It looks amazing!”
Falun Dafa practitioners’ exercise demonstration team and waist drum team lead the parade concession at the starting point in Riverside Park. “Falun Dafa is good” was played along the way and many community residents praised practitioners, saying “It’s great! It looks amazing!” “This is cool, I can see many different things!” “Falun Dafa practitioners are great! Their performance is awesome!”
The police chief posted the practitioners’ waist drum team’s video on the Port Jervis Police Department Facebook page right after the parade ended. The video was watched by thousands of people.
Practitioners of different ages and ethnic backgrounds demonstrated Falun Dafa’s five sets of exercises. The waist drum team’s vibrant and energetic drum beats brought blessings to everyone.
A long line of people were seen at the practitioners’ two tents. One tent taught people how to make handmade paper lotus flowers while the second tent gave out balloons with the words, “Falun Dafa is good” written on them.

William Worden, chief of the Port Jervis Police Department, said, “Today’s event takes place in a Tri-State community. This event is not limited to the people in Port Jervis; it is a full community that includes Deerpark, the Delaware River in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We are proud to host this event.”
The police chief thanked practitioners for bringing peace. He said, “It is great that such a beautiful culture is immersed in our community! Falun Dafa practitioners have been a major part of our National Night Out parades and rallies since before the pandemic.”
