HONG KONG, Aug 22 (AFP) – An Australian Falungong practitioner has been denied entry at Hong Kong’s international airport and allegedly detained by
immigration authorities, a spokeswoman for the spiritual group said Thursday.
Deng Xiangyun, female, 39, was a resident of Gongnong District in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province…On August 1, seeing that Deng was near death, the police sent her home to avoid responsibility. Deng passed away the very next day.
The 16 wrongfully charged and convicted Falun Gong practitioners refused to pay the fines imposed upon them by the unjust verdict.
“Amnesty International Australia calls upon the government at the talks this week to do something about this ineffectual dialogue process and declare to the Chinese delegation that unless persecution of Falun Gong ceases it is apparent the bilateral dialogue policy lacks reality and should be abandoned.”
Private bureaucratic talks between Australia and China were no way to address China’s human-rights abuses, ACT Greens MLA Kerrie Tucker said yesterday.
