Sydneysiders will participate in a candlelight commemoration 6pm today at Town
Hall as part of a series of activities to commemorate lives lost and to call
for an end to the eight-year persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China
that began on July 20, 1999.
The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for seven years. This persecution can be summarized in two words: fabrication and violence. Ever since the establishment of the CCP, it has used fabrication and violence as the means to take power and sustain totalitarian rule. In the persecution of Falun Gong, the CCP is utilizing its accumulated criminal experience of fabrication and violence.
May 13, 2006 is World Falun Dafa Day, a date that both heaven and earth are celebrating. Falun Gong practitioners from Sydney held a series of activities in downtown Sydney to celebrate it, including parades and performances. Many people enjoyed the performances and parades. They witnessed the beauty of Falun Dafa and also learned the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
