Six Lunar New Year’s Eves without My Father

The year 2005 has passed and the 2006 Chinese New Year is just around the corner. With the coming of each new year, I eagerly think of my father, who has been illegally imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong. I always hope he will be reunited with his family and celebrate Chinese New Year with us.

Stop Persecuting Spiritual Believers and Amend Your Ties with the Chinese People

An Open Letter to President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao from Lawyer Gao Zhisheng

Before I could sit down and send my greetings to you, my two fellow compatriots, out of solicitude for another group of our common fellow compatriots, Falun Gong believers, I went to several places outside Beijing to investigate the real situation about Falun Gong believers suffering a new wave of systematic, large-scale, organized illegal persecution. During my days outside Beijing, I was hiding, laying low like a thief. That’s why many in the outside world spread the hearsay that I was “missing.”

This new round of continued, systematic, large-scale, and organized brutal persecution targeting our fellow Chinese citizens who believe in Falun Gong is an ongoing reality, not only revealed in recent letters addressed to us from different regions, but also a reality we personally witnessed during our trip outside Beijing. As a Chinese citizen, and as a lawyer, I am willing to bear any legal responsibility for witnessing and publicizing these facts.

The Horrific Sexual Abuse of Women in Chinese Labour Camps

The Women’s Rights and Protection Act in the People’s Republic of China’s Constitution states clearly that “Women need special protection during menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, and lactation.” Nonetheless, reports of sexual assault, such as rape and forced abortion, frequently surface from Chinese labor camps.

Late-Term Abortion Forced on Falun Gong Practitioner

One year ago, a woman in China’s Henan Province was sentenced to five years in prison because she refused to give up her faith in Falun Gong, and refused to curse the spiritual practice as ordered by the Chinese government. However, only recently was her story published on overseas websites in order to direct international attention to China’s human rights issues.

On June 16, 2005, after enduring brutal persecution, Ms. Gao Rongrong, 37, died in the emergency room of China Medical University Hospital, located in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The persecutors are pressuring her family to cremate her body quickly, in order to destroy all evidence of their crimes.

Candlelight vigil will be held in front of Chinese embassies and consulates Australian wide in memory of Ms Gao and to call for the stop of the brutal persecution towards Falun Gong practitioners from the Chinese communist regime.
