(Minghui.org) An assistant professor at the Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH) in Nagpur, India invited practitioners to introduce Falun Dafa to students on March 2, 2024. They learned the exercises and were told about the ongoing persecution in China.

The GDCH is a renowned institute established in 1968 and located on a massive 196-acre campus of the Government Medical College, the largest government medical campus in Asia. A one-hour session to demonstrate the exercises was held in the GDCH’s dormitory during its wellness classes. Faculty members take turns coordinating these sessions.

Assistant professor Dr. Shweta Sonawane, who practices Falun Dafa, invited local practitioners to introduce the practice to the students. Many students attended the session and most of them were first year students. They were keenly interested in learning the gentle exercises of Falun Dafa, and many said they felt peaceful and energetic after they did them.

Energy and Freshness

Khwaish, a first-year student, said she felt very calm after doing the meditation exercise, “I feel very refreshed. I had a headache before I attended this session, but I feel good now.”

Second-year student Komal said, “The practice is very relaxing. We were not aware of Falun Dafa as we only knew about yoga. So this has opened up a new domain for us to explore, and it seems Falun Dafa is less time-consuming and we can do it every day. I feel less sleepy after doing the Falun Dafa exercises.”

Faculty Members Recommend Falun Dafa

Practitioners told attendees the health benefits of Falun Dafa and explained how several surveys across the world showed that practicing Falun Dafa has a positive impact on the immune system, as well as physical and mental health.

Assistant Professor Dr. Kalpak Peter, who coordinated the wellness session that day, also tried out the exercises. He said that he could feel the effect of Falun Dafa just as the practitioners described and that he would look into it. He recommended people try Falun Dafa to manage their work pressure and stress.

Assistant Professor Dr. Kalpak Peter said that a meditation practice like Falun Dafa should become part of one’s daily life.

“Falun Dafa is not just exercises. It also appears to be a process of gaining enlightenment through meditation, which would definitely relieve stress,” he said. “Pressure is very common these days and everyone struggles with it.”

Dr. Shweta said that today’s generation seeks a different path to wellness: an approach that is “innovative, scientific, effective, and easy to incorporate into their routines.”

“Falun Dafa has a dual impact on both the physical and emotional well-being of individuals, making it well-suited for the demands of the modern era,” she said, adding, “It’s essential for students to become aware of this practice and consider learning it,” so that they can explore their inherent goodness within while enriching their lives.

Talking about Falun Dafa’s core moral teachings of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Dr. Shwetha said that in today’s competitive world, everyone strives to prove themselves. The emphasis on self-importance has taken precedence over everything else.

“Essential virtues such as Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are often overlooked, even though they play a vital role in the well-being of individuals and societies,” she said. “Honest and sincere communication is crucial for building understanding and resolving conflicts. Kindness helps create a compassionate and empathetic society where individuals support each other. Tolerance is indispensable to fostering peaceful coexistence. Therefore, there is a definite need to sow the seeds of these principles in students.”

Doctor: Do Not Ignore China’s Forced Organ Harvesting

Dr. Avinash Gedam is a retired doctor who practices Falun Dafa and he’s visited various schools and institutes in Nagpur to introduce the practice. He told the students about the human rights abuses in China.

He said they listened very attentively, especially when he told them about the Chinese Communist Party’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. “As a doctor, I can’t overlook this genocide — it’s very bad and it shouldn’t have happened. These young future doctors should know about China’s ongoing forced harvesting of organs so that they can share the information with others and not end up referring their patients to China (for organ transplants).”
