Basing My Sales Philosophy on Falun Dafa Principles

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Dafa in 1999. Despite the risk of being persecuted, I read Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Dafa in one sitting.

The Dafa principles touched my heart, and I felt that this book was so precious. I came to know the meaning and purpose of my life. Thus, I did not hesitate to start my cultivation path. The Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance guide everything I do or say throughout my life. As a cultivator, I keep in mind that wealth and happiness are obtained at the cost of virtue.

Master said:

“Virtue is accumulated in past lives. Becoming a king, an official, wealthy, or nobility all come from virtue. No virtue, no gain; the loss of virtue means the loss of everything. Thus, those who seek power and wealth must first accumulate virtue. By suffering hardships and doing good deeds one can accumulate virtue among the masses.” (“Well with Virtue” from Essentials for Further Advancement” )

Respected for Honesty, Integrity and Kindness

I am respected because I am honest, kind, and a hard worker. I never took company property home and care less about the gain or loss of personal interests. Our clients offered bribes and gifts, which I refused. They respected me for it.

My boss trusted me and put me in charge of purchasing. He did not check my expenses and just approved them. He knew that, as a practitioner, I follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

An opportunity presented itself, and I became an online sales representative last year. I did not study online sales techniques, but just followed the profound Falun Dafa principles and became a high sales achiever.

Falun Dafa does not require its practitioners to cultivate in temples or in remote mountains, but one cultivates in ordinary society. And we are required to continually improve and have a high moral standard at work, in society and with family.

Trust and Understanding

In China, online shop owners collude with clients who pretend to buy goods. This enables the owners to achieve higher website rankings, sales figures, and great testimonials.

This sales technique is reprehensible, and we do not use it. Our clients are attracted to our products through good service and our reputation. Some of my clients actually promote our products.

A client once wanted to return the goods he bought several months ago. Although our policy requires any return to be made within seven days of the purchase, I refunded his money.

Every time a client wants to return goods, I will send the money before I receive the shipment. Some clients wanted to know why I trusted people so much in this age of dishonesty. I responded that I trusted them because we need trust and understanding among people.

Master said:

“Whenever you encounter a problem, you should first consider whether others can put up with this matter or if it will hurt anyone. In doing so, there will not be any problems.” (Zhuan Falun)

Shop owners want to sell more products to customers, while customers want to buy products at a reasonable price. Since some of our products are sold in a set, people may receive duplicate products they do not need. I then offer to help them find sets without duplicates.

Walk a Righteous Path

Businessmen in China commonly give kickbacks to their clients. They think that the deal would not be done without it.

When I was in charge of purchasing, I never accepted any kickbacks. When I started doing sales, I wondered if I should also give kickbacks to the clients?

Master said:

“This characteristic, Zhen-Shan-Ren, is the criterion for measuring good and bad in the universe.” (Zhuan Falun)

“No matter how the human moral standard changes, this characteristic of the universe remains unchanged, and it is the sole criterion that distinguishes good people from bad people.” (Lecture one, Zhuan Falun)

I realised the human world is a big dye vat, and that in order to stay pure, I must adhere to righteous principles and ethics so I don’t become polluted.

Sometimes my colleagues on the night shift would give kickbacks to clients. I would then call the client the next day and cancel the kickbacks. Righteous actions always prevail! As long as I stay righteous, things will improve. A cultivator should not drift with the current.

Avoiding Unethical Competition

Unethical competition within the online sales industry has caused headaches for business owners. However, practicing the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance taught me how to treat my peers kindly.

One of my clients wanted to buy a product, which we did not have in stock. I told him where to buy it and also contacted the owner of another online business. The owner was very moved. We chatted for a while and agreed to introduce clients to each other when needed. We fostered a relationship of respect and avoided unethical competition!

Because of my credibility, my sales soared. I made phone calls to my clients as often as I could and achieved both respect and good results.

My good reputation reached far and wide. I became a golden sales representative, and my sales figures were the highest among my colleagues.

Actually, my boss had said that my way of doing business was not workable in China. But now he, as well as my colleagues, acknowledge that my approach is first class and understand that it was achieved by adhering to Dafa’s principles.
