Sydney's
Divine Land Marching Band makes its first appearance in Sydney

May
13, 2006 is World Falun Dafa Day, a date that both heaven and earth are celebrating.
Falun Gong practitioners from Sydney held a series of activities in downtown Sydney
to celebrate it, including parades and performances. Many people enjoyed the performances
and parades. They witnessed the beauty of Falun Dafa and also learned the facts
about the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

U.S. Congressman Chris Bowen sent
a congratulatory letter. In the letter, Congressman Bowen said that he believes
the parade today will fully display the journey of Falun Dafa spreading all over
the world. He also said that although Falun Gong is still being persecuted in
China, he believes that more and more people will learn the facts, and we will
see that in the future Chinese people will also have the freedom of belief in
China.

To maintain order and make sure the parade ran smoothly, many police
cars preceded the parade, and many police officers maintained order. The celebration
activities of Falun Dafa Day have been listed on the Sydney Annual Activities
Calendar as a fixed event.

The newly formed Sydney Divine Land Marching Band,
which has 80 members, led the parade. Many spectators enjoyed their performance
and applauded for them. Even the police officers also praised them, remarking,
“Excellent!”

The director of the Divine Land Marching Band, Mr. Yang Jun, said,
“The band was formed only two months ago. Many members had never touched an instrument
before. It is a miracle and amazing to those professional musicians that the band
can attend the parade and perform today.”

One of the members, Pan Yu, who was
persecuted in China, said that the reason he joined the band and the performance
today is that he hopes more and more people will learn the truth of Falun Gong.

After the parade, practitioners demonstrated
the exercises and performed singing and dancing in Belmore Park, which is near
Chinatown. More people had a chance to learn about Falun Dafa and joined the celebration
with practitioners.

Wang
Cunying, a Falun Gong practitioner, who recently came to Australia from China,
attended the parade. She called for the rescue of her son, Li Liang, who has been
jailed for seven years for practicing Falun Gong.
