The Government continued its crackdown against the Falun Gong (FLG) spiritual movement. Thousands of practitioners were incarcerated in prisons, extrajudicial reeducation-through-labor camps, psychiatric facilities or special deprogramming centers.
In February 2000 (lunar calendar), my entire family and I were detained at the Town Judicial Department. My husband, my mother-in-law, my brother-in-law and his wife were all severely beaten; my brother-in-law’s wife didn’t recover until a month later, and she had to be led by the arm in order to use the bathroom.
It’s a great misfortune to have a disability or an incurable disease. While seeing that others are healthy and full of energy, these people can only endure excruciating pain brought about by their illness. People often complain to the heavens for the injustice they seem to suffer. They ask: “Why do I have to suffer misfortune?”

Anyone watching the sky late on Saturday night could have witnessed one of nature’s most violent events since the Big Bang 13 billion years ago.
On March 27th, the organisers placed an advertisement in the newspaper “Romania libera”. Very soon after the paper came out, at around 10:00 am on March 27th, the organisers received a phone call from a Mr. Chen (or Chan) who introduced himself as a representative of the Chinese Embassy in Bucharest and who told them that “the Chinese government does not allow such an activity” and told them to cancel the event.
Between March 21 and 27 2003, Mrs. Zhang Cuiyings painting exhibition was successfully held in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Many spectators appreciated Mrs. Zhangs outstanding traditional Chinese paintings and came to understand her experiences of practising Falun Gong.

During my three trips to China (1996 to 1999) I met many Chinese Falun Gong practitioners. Their pure minds and unselfish behaviour made a very strong impression on me. After the persecution of Falun Gong started I often wondered what happened to the friends that Id met. Have they suffered from torture? Are they still alive?
