NEW YORK, December 30, 2002 (Falun Dafa Information Center) A 39-year-old medical doctor whose 5’6″ frame was reduced to 80 pounds from nine months of police brutality and forced-feeding, died on December 4, 2002.

The International Rescue Committee is an organization established by worldwide Falun Gong practitioners voluntarily in September 2002 with a mission to rescue the family members and friends imprisoned in China for practicing Falun Gong.
During her detention, Gong went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was kicked, punched, and force-fed with food and medicine. The guards usually did not do it themselves. They ordered the criminals to pinch her tendons and force-feed her while plugging her nose.
Eight Falun Gong members have been sentenced to up to 13 years in prison for
hijacking local television and radio signals in eastern China’s Anhui
province to promote the banned spiritual movement.
Since China joined the World Trade Organisation, it is meant to be trying to attain international standards in how it is operates its judiciary. The proposed changes to Article 23 of Basic Law in Hong Kong do not seem to be a step in that direction.
