(Minghui.org) An event marking International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief was held in Saint-Paul, Réunion, France, on August 22, 2026. Religious and faith groups, including Falun Gong practitioners, participated in the event.
Many local people and tourists paused in front of the practitioners’ booth to learn about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. They signed a petition calling for an end to the egregious human rights abuses.
Ms. Luo described how she was persecuted and tortured in China for practicing her belief, Falun Gong. She was imprisoned for six years, and was repeatedly tortured, even to the point of losing consciousness.
Her experience touched people. Many said they admired her steadfast determination to practice Falun Gong, and said that the persecution must be stopped immediately. They signed the petition to oppose the persecution.

Supporting Freedom of Belief and Stopping Organ Trafficking
Freedom of religion or belief is a fundamental human right affirmed by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Yet this right is being severely violated in China.
Serious allegations have been raised by the China Tribunal, an independent body chaired by the prominent British lawyer Sir Geoffrey Nice KC. After reviewing the evidence, the Tribunal concluded that forced organ harvesting has been carried out on a massive scale in China for years, and that Falun Gong practitioners have been one, and possibly the primary, source of these organs.
A couple were appalled after learning about the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting, and they signed the petition.

After viewing information about the persecution, a young French woman told the practitioners, “You are truly remarkable and brave. Through your actions, you are letting people know about the evil crimes taking place in China. Welcome to Réunion; you are safe here.”
Réunionese musician Jean-Michel Fock, known by his stage name, Ti Fock, also signed the petition. He said that watching the exercise demonstration gave him a sense of reconnecting with his Asian cultural roots.
One local resident said of the CCP’s transnational repression, “The CCP poses a threat not only to the Chinese people but also to all of humanity.”
