Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is an advanced self-cultivation practice of the Buddha School. Falun Dafa was founded by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice's master. It is a discipline in which “assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance)—is the foundation of practice.

July 20, 2008 marks the ninth year that Falun Gong practitioners have worked against the persecution. Practitioners have remained uncompromising and persevering in clarifying the truth and calling for an end to the persecution. Many people have shown support for Falun Gong, some by joining the practitioners in holding up display boards.

On the evening of July 20 2008, Australian Falun Gong practitioners in Sydney arrived at Town Hall and quietly ignited candles. They sat in the gentle breeze, in mourning for fellow practitioners who have been persecuted to death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for upholding the principals of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. The practitioners called for an immediate end to the brutal persecution that has gone on for the past nine years.
