A HORNSBY mother and her 15-year-old daughter have been unable to renew
their Chinese passports and return to China. The family say the passports have been denied because they practise Falun Gong.
Tang Yiwen is the sister of Australian citizen Lisa Liang. Tang is currently in China and is under severe threat of being illegally imprisoned for the third time in the past four years. Previous detentions have crippled her legs due to the severe torture she endured.
THE plight of an Ultimo man who believes he was shot for defending his Falun Gong beliefs was highlighted in a petition to Prime Minister John Howard last month.
The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the District Court’s immunization of the former leader of China, Jiang Zemin, for alleged genocide, torture and crimes against humanity perpetrated against practitioners of Falun Gong in China.
Dr. Terri Marsh, attorney for the plaintiffs, commented, “[Former leader] Jiang Zemin does not enjoy immunity under US law or under the international standards created in the wake of Nuremberg and affirmed and re-affirmed by domestic and international courts around the globe.”
Plaintiffs will file an appeal to the US Supreme Court, and if necessary to the United Nations Commissions on Genocide and Torture.
Hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners are traveling to Manhattan to conduct several large-scale events for the more than 45,000 people scheduled to attend the Republican National Conventional. Practitioners of Falun Gong are coming from as far away as Taiwan and Australia to show RNC attendees and the people of New York how tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners in China are suffering under brutal persecution in China.
One day a friend asked me, “Why do you hate Falun Gong?” I said, “Nonsense! I don’t have any enmity towards Falun Gong, why should I hate Falun Gong?” However, I felt something strike at my heart.
Falun Gong activists have gathered more than 1700 signatures from Ryde, Eastwood and Gladesville. The petition asks the Federal Government to work with South African authorities to investigate Mr Liang’s incident.
I really think it is not that difficult. I think the difficulty is, other countries have to place more importance on the fact that there is this persecution going on in China, and it’s really severe. I think the world has stayed silent for too long, and turned a blind eye.
On July 19th, Chen was summoned to appear before the Tanzanian court in reference to the case. This is the first time any Chinese official responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong has appeared in person at any of the legal actions filed in many countries.
We urge the faction within the Chinese Government who are carrying out a systematic and brutal persecution of Falun Gong to stop and allow China to return to her true self – a nation and a people who, like the ancient Olympic athletes celebrated by Pindar, embrace balance and harmony between man, nature and the divine.
