UN findings: “The regime points
to a supposed self-immolation incident in Tiananmen Square on January 23, 2001
as proof that Falun Gong is …. However, we have obtained a video of that incident that in our view proves that this event was staged by the government”.
Amnesty International has been made aware that approximately 550 deaths have occurred in custody since the Falun Gong was banned in July 1999; deaths have been attributed to ill treatment and torture.
During my three trips to China (1996 to 1999) I met many Chinese Falun Gong practitioners. Their pure minds and unselfish behaviour made a very strong impression on me. After the persecution of Falun Gong started I often wondered what happened to the friends that I’d met. Have they suffered from torture? Are they still alive?
“Police often used excessive force when detaining peaceful
(Falungong) protesters, including some who were elderly or who were
accompanied by small children,” the report said.

Preface: I am a third year undergraduate. In February 2001, the school said that I would only be allowed to go back to school if I wrote a guarantee to stop practicing Falun Dafa and “expose” Falun Gong.
My record is at the medium high level, so at least I can go to a medium level high school. However, the students who have worse records than I all received their results, but I was left out. Later I found out there were two reasons: I didn’t sign on the self-immolation case signature board and my parents practice Falun Gong.
