(Minghui.org) Over the years since I began practicing Falun Dafa, I’ve participated in many events and festivals where we introduced Dafa. Each time, I’ve encountered touching stories and meaningful moments that deeply inspired and moved me. These experiences have repeatedly shown me that people are waiting for the opportunity to learn about Dafa, and that there are still many people in this world with kind hearts—people who seem to have been waiting for such an opportunity for a long time.
I understand that not everyone who learns about Falun Dafa will necessarily become a long-term practitioner, but I have learned to introduce Dafa to people with kindness and sincerity, without judging them by their age, gender, nationality, culture, or background. Whenever I feel that someone is seeking truth or wishing for something meaningful, I tell them about Falun Dafa.
Every time I show people how to do the exercises, I feel a deep sense of peace and joy—I feel they are receiving one of the most precious gifts of their lives. What touches me is that sometimes they express the same feeling, and some say that they encountered something truly valuable and different.
There are also many beautiful moments involving children. Sometimes children run excitedly toward our booth, eager to receive one of the beautiful lotus flowers. Some approach shyly, and some even ask, “Can I take one for my friend (or my brother or my sister), too?”
When I give them a lotus flower, I often ask, “Do you know what is written on this flower?” They usually look at me curiously and say, “No.” Then I tell them: “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. Falun Dafa is good.”
I feel that, in this simple way, they have an opportunity to hear these precious words. Their eyes light up with happiness, and they hold the lotus flower carefully in their hands as if it were a treasured gift. Adults often have the same reaction. Sometimes elderly people come with a smile and say, “I’d like one for my grandchild. It is so beautiful.” I see the joy in their eyes and how they are naturally drawn to the beauty of the lotus flower.
Sometimes, after people learn about Falun Dafa or learn the exercises, they ask with surprise: “Why would a practice with such beautiful principles be persecuted in China?” Many people ask this.
I feel that when they learn about the persecution, their kind hearts are deeply touched. Many people view the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners as something completely inhumane and say that they cannot understand why the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would persecute people who strive to live according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
Whenever I see such reactions, I feel even more strongly that when people have the opportunity to hear the truth, they can use their own conscience and kind hearts to distinguish right from wrong.
Sometimes, before going to a booth, I may feel tired, experience physical discomfort, or even have a headache. However, as soon as I enter the environment where Falun Dafa is being introduced, these feelings disappear. I feel light, energetic, and refreshed, and I smile.
At those moments, I feel that introducing Dafa or handing a flyer to someone is one of the most meaningful things I can do for others. I believe people can sense my sincerity and kindness. There have been times when I sat down for a few minutes to rest, but there have also been times when I did not want to sit down at all, because I felt that even a few minutes might be an opportunity for another person to learn about Dafa. Every time I return home, I ask myself:
Did I do my best today?
How can I do better next time?
Did I have enough kindness and compassion toward others?
Was I patient enough when teaching the exercises?
When explaining the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China, did I consider people’s level of understanding and their background?
When someone expressed a different opinion, was I able to respond with tolerance, calmness, and kindness?
These questions always help me do better while I introduce Dafa. The feeling I have while I’m at Falun Dafa booths is truly special. To me, it feels like being in a small corner of a pure, peaceful, and beautiful heavenly place—an experience that is difficult to fully describe with words.
A Weekend Filled With Hope
I recently participated in a cultural festival. The warm response from visitors and their sincere interactions were inspiring and deeply meaningful. Many people came to our booth and listened attentively as we introduced Falun Dafa. Some asked thoughtful questions, and some expressed a strong interest in learning more.
A number of visitors left their contact information so they could receive more details about the nine-day Falun Dafa introductory lecture series. Some learned the exercises at our booth, while others planned to join the online instructional webinars to continue learning about the practice. Here are a few memorable encounters from the festival.
Story 1: Something Told Me I Had to Come
A woman came to our booth with her daughter, who was about 10 years old. She told us that the beautiful lotus flowers attracted her attention from a distance. She said that several months earlier, at another event, a lady gave her a lotus flower and a flyer. Since then, she had always wanted to learn more about Falun Dafa. From time to time, she would look at the lotus flower and gently touch it, wondering more about the practice and its meaning. She said that coming to this festival felt like something she was meant to do.
“It was as if my heart was telling me to come,” she said. “For months, I have wanted to learn more about this lotus flower and this practice.”
She felt that finding our booth was a blessing. Before she left she said she would continue learning through the online introductory webinars and she hoped to deepen her understanding of Falun Dafa. She described this encounter as one of the most meaningful and unexpected blessings in her life.
Story 2: “I Thought It Was Too Late for Me”
An elderly man came to our booth and told us that he would be leaving the country in a few days. At first, he only wanted to take a flyer for his daughter, who lives in the area. He thought that perhaps it was too late for him to begin learning the practice himself. After having a conversation with him, his perspective changed. He decided that both he and his wife would attend the online introductory webinars after returning home and they would begin learning about Falun Dafa. He said he felt hopeful and enthusiastic about this new journey.
Story 3: A New Understanding
A middle-aged man came to our booth and said that he’s known about Falun Dafa for many years, although he had never practiced it. He also knew about the persecution in China because he discussed this topic with two Chinese friends. Interestingly, one of his friends supported Falun Dafa. After we explained more about why Falun Dafa has been persecuted and shared additional background information, he said that many things were clearer to him.
He thanked us for taking the time to explain and said he now had a better understanding of the situation.
Story 4: “I Can Feel the Positive Energy”
One encounter especially touched my heart. Over the years, at several community festivals—whether we were introducing Falun Dafa or promoting Shen Yun—the same woman, who sells traditional handicrafts, often had a booth next to ours. At a previous festival, we had given her a lotus flower and a flyer.
This time, I noticed that she had carefully placed the lotus flower among her traditional items. She asked me to tell her more about Falun Dafa. She said that the last time she simply accepted the flower and listened, but this time she truly wanted to understand more. Then she asked a question that touched me:
“I can feel a positive energy from the people introducing this practice. Can you tell me why all of you volunteer so much of your time without receiving any payment?” After I explained why practitioners volunteer and what motivates them to introduce Falun Dafa, her eyes lit up. She smiled and said, “What you all are doing is truly admirable. I believe this is genuinely helping people.”
She added, “It is amazing. Every time my booth ends up next to yours, I learn something new. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything so clearly.”
These encounters remind me that kindness and compassion can touch people’s hearts in unexpected ways. A simple conversation, a lotus flower, or a sincere introduction may become the beginning of a meaningful and positive journey for someone.
Thank you, Master! Thank you, fellow practitioners!
[Editor’s note: The little handmade lotus flowers are attractive, but they are by no means truth clarification materials. When practitioners hold activities, such as fairs or information booths, other than Dafa flyers, they can prepare copies of the Minghui International magazine. This is an easy way for people to bring home more information about Falun Dafa. The magazine is also an excellent way to tell people about Falun Dafa.]
Articles in which cultivators share their understandings typically reflect an individual’s perception at a point in time based on their cultivation state, and they are offered in the spirit of enabling mutual elevation.
