(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners from the southern part of Bulgaria held an event in the city centre of Peshtera, Bulgaria Square, on March 15, 2025. Practitioners from Dobrinishte, Plovdiv, and Chepelare participated in the event.
Peshtera is famous for its shoe industry, wine production, and a pharmaceutical plant that produces antibiotics. The weather was warm, and because it was also Saturday (market day), the square was filled with people. Practitioners told passersby how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Dafa, and many people signed a petition to end this brutality.
Many Bulgarians condemned the persecution and wished practitioners success in their efforts to end these human rights abuses that have been going on for 25 years.
“There Is No Way People Like You Can Fail!”
Practitioners told people about Falun Dafa and its guiding principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. They also explained how the CCP started the persecution when the number of practitioners was greater than the number of CCP members.
When locals heard about the inhumane methods used against practitioners in China to force them to renounce their belief—including forced organ harvesting—several signed the petition and said they stood in solidarity with practitioners.
Mr. Dinkov signed the petition and urged practitioners to continue raising awareness of these egregious human rights abuses. “There is no way people like you can fail! I wish you success!” he said.
Three teenagers, Radomir, Christian and Kostadin, were shocked when they learned how practitioners in China are abused. One exclaimed, “How can [the CCP] act so idiotically?”
Selver and Fiat said they couldn’t understand why Falun Dafa can’t be freely practiced in China, and told practitioners that everyone has the right to their spiritual belief. They said they also saw in Falun Dafa values similar to their own faith.
“We support the petition and your efforts,” Selver said.
When practitioners started packing up to leave, Nevena, Yanka, and Maria stopped and asked what the event was about. They said they were happy that they got a chance to sign the petition before practitioners left, and to support an important cause. “We are firmly against such violence!” they said.
Denka listened carefully as a practitioner explained how practitioners are persecuted in China, and that this has been going on for 25 years. After she signed, she said that she was interested in learning how to practice Falun Dafa. A practitioner showed her some of the exercise movements.
Families Sign the Petition
Because the weather was beautiful, many people strolled around the square with their families. Practitioners noticed that after one person understood the situation in China and signed the petition, they brought their entire family to sign it.
Ekaterina was drawn to the booth because she said she already knew about the many crimes the CCP committed. She said it was no surprise that the CCP persecutes spiritual groups like Falun Dafa. “All evil comes from the Chinese Communist Party!” she exclaimed.
While she talked with practitioners, her parents and husband joined her, and all four of them signed the petition.
Ahmed and Nelly were out with their baby and listened as practitioners introduced Falun Dafa and described the 25-year-long persecution. Nelly signed the petition and encouraged her husband to sign.
“Sign your name too, dear, let’s help with what we can!” she said. The practitioner gave their child a copy of The Lotus Story—a children’s book written by practitioners to explain Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
The CCP’s True Nature
As a former communist country, Bulgaria is no stranger to the human rights abuses that occur under communist party rule. Many people who signed the petition said they were not surprised by the CCP’s brutal behavior.
Radka said that she’s heard of many other human rights abuses by the CCP, and that the persecution is something it would do.
Liliana and Georgi talked with practitioners, and after he learned about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa, Georgi signed the petition and urged his wife to sign it also.
