(Minghui.org) Practitioners gathered on Martin Place in Sydney and held a parade on May 6, 2024 to celebrate the 25th World Falun Dafa Day and the 32nd anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public.
Led by the Tian Guo Marching Band the parade set off at noon from Martin Place, and marched through Elizabeth Street, an important commercial street in Sydney, passing through the business district and Hyde Park along the way.
Public Support for Falun Dafa
Glenda Merritt said that she began to support Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) after she learned about the practice from a friend last year. She said, “Last year I met a Falun Dafa practitioner, and I became a supporter.”
She understood why practitioners held parades and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. She said, “Yes, this is the great way to raise awareness–to expose darkness and allow people to see the light. We are all humanitarians. Aren’t we all working together around the world to expose evil and benefit mankind? This event made me smile. I was working in the building and heard the music. I quickly ran down to watch it.
“I particularly appreciate the atmosphere, colors and unique styles of the parade, which are beautiful.
“We must stop the persecution. These people [the perpetrators] will be brought to justice. They must be exterminated from the earth. A lot of persecution occurs because of crimes against humanity. So what Falun Gong practitioners have done for a long time is to raise awareness about this and let people move from darkness to light. Everyone needs to join in to stop the persecution.”
Jasmine and Goung from Germany were visiting Sydney. When they saw the parade, they were excited and kept taking videos. Jasmine said, “The Falun Gong parade is so beautiful, with bright colors and a positive energy field.”
Goung said that he had just came back from traveling to China and was well aware of the nature of the CCP. He said, “The Chinese Communist Party is a dictatorship that does not allow people to have freedom of speech or belief. We need to support the Chinese people to break the Internet censorship and let them know the truth and oppose the CCP’s persecution of religious groups, especially Falun Gong practitioners.”
Both of them praised Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. They said after they returned they would learn more about Falun Gong and spread what they learned to the people around them.
Marsha King from Scotland said, “I was interested when I saw this marching band, and I wanted to know more about them.
“Falun Dafa is really good. It is important for mental health and it is easy to use in daily life. The CCP should not persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
“We come from Scotland, where you have freedom of speech. Scotland is a pretty diverse country. It’s a pretty open country. So what you’re telling me about China is incredible to me.”
