(Minghui.org) A Shenyang City, Liaoning Province resident was recently sentenced to prison for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang Jinghui, 65, was arrested on February 7, 2022 after being reported by security personnel in a subdivision, for distributing Falun Gong materials there. After six days at the police station, she was taken to the Shenbei New District Detention Centre, a facility for male detainees. During the 46 days she was held there, she lost 10 kg (22 lbs). She was later transferred to the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Centre.

The Yuhong District Procuratorate approved Ms. Wang’s arrest on March 18, 2022. She was tried by the Yuhong District Court through a virtual conference on July 21. The judge stopped her lawyer, when he argued that practicing Falun Gong didn’t violate any laws in China. Ms. Wang was also interrupted when she recounted how she benefitted from practicing Falun Gong.

The judge recently sentenced her to a 1.5-year prison term with a 5,000-yuan fine. She has appealed the verdict.

Before Ms. Wang took up Falun Gong in 2007, she had severe stomach problems and couldn’t eat cold or hard food. She also had difficulty walking due to a leg injury. All of her conditions disappeared shortly after she learned Falun Gong. Her relationship with her mother-in-law also improved as she became more considerate thanks to Falun Gong’s spiritual teachings.
