(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners participated in the Cairns Multicultural Festival, which took place from September 9 to 10, 2022. They were warmly welcomed by local politicians and residents.
On this piece of land that was originally inhabited by the aboriginal Yirrganydji people in Queensland, people from various ethnic groups celebrated together at Munro Martin Parklands.
Chairman of Multicultural Association: I Like Your Demonstration of Exercises
Practitioners attended the festival on the morning of September 10 and demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises on stage. Kesa Strieby, the event’s coordinator, expressed her enthusiasm about the performances.
“I would like to thank you for performing the Falun Dafa exercises on Saturday,” she said. “Your team performed wonderfully. I really enjoyed watching you do the exercises on stage. The exercises are so peaceful, vigorous, and uplifting. We need more of this meditation in our busy lives.”
Kesa also came to the Falun Dafa booth with Councilor Bob Manning OAM, the Mayor of Cairns and recipient of the Order of Australia, and his wife to learn more about Falun Dafa. She signed the petition in support of the practitioners’ resistance to the persecution. “I stand by you, and good luck to you,” Kesa said.
City Councilor: I Like Falun Dafa’s Principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance
Amy Eden, Councilor of the Cairns Regional Council, heard about Falun Dafa from a practitioner for the first time. She said that she likes Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
The local radio station Cairns FM89.1 interviewed the practitioners after they demonstrated the exercises on stage.
Many People Came to Learn about Falun Dafa
Rimple Dhillion owns the booth next to the Falun Dafa booth. She came to the Falun Dafa booth and learned the first set of exercises. She said that she felt calm after doing it three times. Her youngest daughter also came to the Falun Dafa booth and learned how to fold a paper lotus flower.
Practitioners handed out informational flyers and paper lotus flowers to the public. Throughout the day, a steady stream of people came to learn more about Falun Dafa. Some children listened attentively to the story of Petals of Peace while following practitioners to fold paper lotus flowers. They recited aloud Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the principles of Falun Dafa.
