Falun Dafa practitioners in Quebec held a series of activities in the southeastern city of Salaberry-de Valleyfield on July 4, 2021. They introduced Falun Dafa and told people how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes the spiritual practice in China.
The Tian Guo Marching Band performed at the event, and practitioners demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and collected signatures on a petition calling to end the persecution in China. Local residents were outraged to learn how the CCP removes organs from Falun Dafa practitioners while they were still alive. Many people condemned the persecution by signing the petition.
Salaberry-de Valleyfield is situated on Grande-Île, an island in the Saint Lawrence River. The scenic city is popular with tourists, and the majority of its population is French.
Falun Dafa practitioners held their event at Riverside Park. They displayed banners with the messages ‘Falun Dafa is Good’ and ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good.’ The Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance and the practitioners’ exercise demonstration drew the attention of passersby.
The harmonious scene attracted many people who came to the park to enjoy a leisurely summer day. They expressed their thanks through warm applause and putting their palms together in a heshi gesture. Several people chatted with practitioners and said that they supported their efforts to end the persecution.
Local residents Mr. Ste-Marie and Ms. St-Onge said that the scene of the Tian Guo Marching Band performing and the practitioners meditating deeply moved them. They said they felt positive energy and their hearts were very touched. They were sad to learn that the CCP is still committing the criminal acts of forced organ harvesting against Falun Dafa practitioners. Both of them signed the petition and thanked the practitioners for bringing such goodness to the local residents.
Claudia said that the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music brought people joy. She said that although the CCP seems strong, the best method to curb the persecution is to have the courage to expose the Party’s criminal acts and let more people know.
Michel, a local resident said, “Falun Dafa is good! I support you all! Expose the bad deeds that the CCP has done and let us know about it. This is really great. Live organ harvesting is a very horrible crime. This has to change. Thank you, all of you!”
Carole, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Salaberry-de Valleyfield, said that by holding the event and collecting signatures on the petition, they were able to let more residents know about the CCP’s criminal acts of persecuting Falun Dafa and work together to stop the persecution.
Carole also said they collected far more signatures than expected. The signatures would be submitted to governments at all levels, including the local city government. This way, she said, more people will be able to learn about the CCP’s crimes and help to end the persecution.
Background: What is Falun Dafa?
Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide.
Millions of people have embraced the teachings—which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance as well as five gentle exercises—and experienced uplifted health and well-being.
Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, issued an order to ban the practice.
Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 22 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. More have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.
There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply the organ transplant industry.
Under Jiang’s personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organisation with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.
