Falun Dafa practitioners in Melbourne, participated in the annual Glenferrie Festival on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
Located in the suburb of Hawthorn, the Glenferrie Festival is one of Melbourne’s largest community festivals and attracts more than 100,000 people annually.
At the Falun Dafa booth, some practitioners demonstrated the exercises, while some of the practitioners who are more fluent in English passed out fliers to visitors and answered questions about the traditional spiritual practice.
Many festival attendees signed the practitioners’ petition calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China, and some of the attendees said that Falun Gong is the spiritual practice that they have been looking for.
The Glenferrie Festival has been held for 25 years and had more than 250 stalls selling food and artisan products this year. The festival also had live entertainment, including a parade, music, fashion shows, and theme park rides.
The Falun Dafa tent was set up on a street in front of a beauty salon. The owner of the salon, Edward Jollie, said he was very familiar with Falun Gong. “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance should be the values of people’s everyday lives. They apply to all situations, from the family to the work place, and relationships between people. And I follow these values in my life, too,” he said.
He said the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, their families and children is terrible, “I believe these lives lost in the persecution are not in vain. Falun Gong will prevail in the end. It is just a question of when.”
