“World Falun Dafa Day” 2006 celebrated in Noosa, Queensland

The community stage in Noosa’s Lion’s Park came alive on May 13 as Falun Dafa practitioners travelled from the North and South of Queensland to celebrate the 14th anniversary of “World Falun Dafa Day” in the popular riverside area.

Colourful Falun Dafa banners adorned the stage and fluttered in the gentle breeze. Families flocked to the outdoor venue with many people catching sight of the words “Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance” displayed.

Drummers, dressed in traditional Chinese golden costumes, drew the attention of young and older folk as the practitioners began their performances to celebrate the 14 years since Mr Li Hongzhi imparted the practice and teachings of Falun Dafa to the world. Our local singing group “Future Culture” performed a number of their inspiring and original compositions, including a beautiful Chinese song.

The young Chinese dancers glided across the stage in their shimmering costumes, the five Falun Dafa exercises were demonstrated and some personal and touching experiences of coming to the practice were shared on stage with the audience.

Some people were very interested in learning the exercises on the day and children folded beautiful origami lotus flowers sharing their creations with their parents. Many also took information highlighting the persecution of Falun Dafa in China from the tables. A practitioner, recently arriving from New Zealand, unexpectedly came across us our event and enjoyed the activities.

The cooperation amongst practitioners on the day was most evident and many people were touched in various ways as practitioners shared the beauty and splendour of Falun Dafa and traditional Chinese culture with the community at Noosa. The local television media also attended and some of the presentations were broadcast on the news the following Tuesday evening.
