Canberra is the only place in Australia that has a Bill of Rights. Only residents of the ACT have rights legally protected allowing them freedom of ‘expression’ and ‘peaceful appeal.’ It is hoped that the restriction of using signs at the Chinese Embassy does not set a precedent for limiting the Civil Rights of Australians.
To ascend where summits of cold and mountains prevail… this ‘otherworldliness’ where few venture and even less reside.
Little Yuanyuan was born on July 16, 1999. Four days after her birth, the Jiang regime started the brutal persecution of Falun Gong. On New Year’s Day of 2004, four policemen from the first police station of Tongnan County, forcefully took little Yuanyuan away and until today, there is still no information on her whereabouts.
I have been friends with a Chinese couple since the end of 1995. I shared a large apartment with them for almost a year. Since then, I have kept in touch with them. I have gotten to know their personality, outlook, and moral character, just as I know myself. They are not at all like the Falun Gong practitioners that the Mainland Chinese media has described.
“The wise man is immune to evil. This is due to his childlike-ness, which is to say there is actually complete harmony in this person. No dissipation [mind] has wasted his powers.
He shares the constancy of nature and is therefore enlightened. He is not exuberant or aggressive. So may the sovereign be.
If he continues with the way, there will be no decline in his strength or virtue. If he parts from the way, he is doomed.”
The tortures that Falun Gong practitioners face in China have revealed to the world the horrific nature of the persecution. The tortures are so incredibly appalling that I have been asked, “Is it possible that such brutal torture exists in the civilized world of today?” The answer is yes.
When I read the descriptions of the tortures, I often feel that I can not bear to read them any more, because it is very a disturbing and even traumatizing experience just to read them. However, when I see the actual photographs of dead or surviving Falun Gong practitioners bearing the horrible evidence of torture on their bodies, I have no choice but to admit that such an abysmal tragedy is taking place in today’s world.
I am very pleased to have this opportunity to be here with you, and to share with you my experiences since I got to know and started practicing Falun Dafa. I will speak in my own language – Spanish.
Falun Gong practitioners held “Persecution Meets Principles” torture enactment and picture exhibit at the Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago last month to demonstrate the cruel torture methods used on Falun Gong practitioners in China.
On June 3, 2004, the U.S. Congressional Human Rights Caucus held a Member’s briefing on China’s current human rights situation in the Rayburn House Office Building. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Erping Zhang was invited to the briefing and gave a 7-minute speech on the persecution of Falun Gong.
Although you may be aware that many adult practitioners of Falun Gong have been persecuted, tortured and killed under the supervision and instruction of the Jiang regime, you may not be aware that in China at the moment many of the children who are practitioners themselves or are related to practitioners are also experiencing similar persecution.
Numerous examples have shown that Jiang and his followers have contravened the basic human rights of these children, including their right to survival, their right to freedom from abuse and malnutrition, their right to education, their right to freedom from discrimination and their right to participate fully in family, cultural and social life in their society.
