World Falun Dafa Day celebrates the introduction of Falun Dafa to the public in China in May 1992.  Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) is an ancient spiritual practice in the Chinese tradition of “self-cultivation”, based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It includes meditation and gentle exercises to improve health, energy and wellbeing. It is part of the Buddhist-school practices and has a history of thousands of years. Since its introduction to the public in 1992 by Mr Li Hongzhi, millions of people took up the practice and found better health, rediscovered the moral foundations of traditional Chinese culture and the connection of our humanity with the divinity of the heavens. It has since grown globally to reach more than 100 million people in over 80 countries. All Falun Dafa activities are free of charge and the books/audio files can be freely downloaded from the website: www.falundafa.org

Sadly, Falun Dafa practitioners have been persecuted in China since July 1999. It is the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance that have guided practitioners to peacefully resist the persecution, stay true to their beliefs and kindly raise awareness among the world’s people. Many international officials have publicly proclaimed the contribution of Falun Dafa to the public and community, with over 3000 honours and awards issued to Falun Dafa and Mr Li Hongzhi.

There are 18 exercise practice sites in NSW, which offer free meditation teaching to local community by volunteers. Falun Dafa groups around Australia also participate in local community events and parades. During past Falun Dafa Day events, numerous Proclamations and Letters of Support were received from local, State and Federal politicians.

The celebration of World Falun Dafa Day will provide an opportunity for the community to get to know Falun Dafa, celebrate the universal principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance”. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided. For further information or reservation please contact: events@fdnsw.org
